Composition
A successful composition may:
- develop ideas with a clear and balanced structure
- demonstrate coherent structure and smooth transitions
- maintain balance between unity and variety
- provide a clear and balanced score with stylistic expression indicated e.g. jazz inflections
- show a perceptive grasp of style and harmonic ideas
- understand the potential of chosen instruments
- use extended techniques which are integrated into the work
- understand the voicing of parts
